Final Exam

Our Final Exam will be on Monday, May 23rd, 12 pm to 1:50 pm, at CP 308

The Exam will be based on topics from Chapters 3, 5, 8, and 12
    The exam is closed book and closed notes, but you can use 4 cheat sheets with font size no smalled than Times New Roman, 10.
    You can use a calculator. Make sure to bring it if you plan to use it as you are not allowed to use smartphones during the exam, nor will I be able to provide you with a spare calculator.

Study guide for the Math Odyssey book:
1) Chapter 3 (with answers) review problems
2) Chapter 5 (answers and comments about solutions are at the end) review problems
3) Chapters 8 and 12 review problems


On Wednesday, May 11th we will have remedial math assessment, part 2.

It will be based on material from Textbook 2, Sections 6.3,  5.1 - 5.5, and 8.1 - 8.2
For this assessment you are allowed to use a calculator (no smart phones) and you are allowed to use two cheat sheets.
However you are not allowed to use your notes, nor textbook(s).

Study guide for remedial math part:
1) go over these review problems (the answers are at the very end)
2) We will go over these problems in class


Midterm Exam

Math Odyssey topics assessment (60 minutes long) will be based on the topics covered in Chapters 2, 4 and 7.

You are allowed to use three cheat sheets (both sides, letter size, normal font size) and a calculator.
Smart phones are not allowed to be used, so make sure to bring a calculator if you want to use it!

You will be given about 15 problems to work on, each problem is worth 2-12 points (some problems will have several items in it, hence the 12 points problems).
For the problems with several items in it you will be able to get partial credit if you get some of the items correctly.

The review problems (for each chapter, with answers at the end): Chapter 2, Chapter 4, Chapter 7


Remedial math assessment (30 minutes long) will cover the following topics: fractions, decimals, mixed numbers, rounding off, percent, exponents and square roots, order of operations, algebraic expressions, evaluating algebraic expressions, translating from English to mathematical statements, algebraic statements and solutions, solving linear equations in one variable, polynomials, adding and subtracting polynomials.
